Equal access to vaccines everywhere, including Tanzania!“I have received with concern the news of the death of John Magufuli,” declares Heinz Bierbaum, President of the European Left.

According to official statements, Magufuli died of heart failure, though for several weeks there were reports that he had contracted COVID-19. For almost a year, Magufuli not only refused to provide appropriate information about the global coronavirus pandemic in Tanzania, but in May last year he declared Tanzania “free of Covid”, prohibited testing and vaccines and even penalized contrary statements on COVID-19 cases in his land.“I call upon the President-in-Office Samia Suluhu Hassan to set a new course with regard to the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tanzanian people must have the right to get an appropriate medical information and, above all, the right to vaccinations,” further declares Heinz Bierbaum. “To ensure the access to COVID-19 vaccines worldwide, we as the European Left will continue to demand to share the licences on Covid-19 vaccines and provide an equal access to vaccines on an international scale!”
