Save Romania Union – Baia Mare Branch discovered that the City Hall, through a service of its own (SPAU – Ambient Urban Public Service) stores waste on an unauthorized garbage ramp.

Although the existence of the illegal landfill is known to everyone, the National Environmental Guard – Maramures County Commissariat did not take any action until the referral filed by USR Baia Mare.De also, in the official communication with USR Baia Mare, the Environmental Guard is silently passing the sanctions applied and the measures taken to sanitize and decontaminate the area. On the other hand, the Environmental Protection Agency responds in two fold at the usr's request for public information, being made that it knows nothing about the subject. It was only after the insistence of Dan Ivan, the president of usr Baia Mare and the USR candidate for the City Hall, that things began to move. But let's take the facts in chronological order. On November 19, 2019, USR Baia Mare sent a request for information of public interest (https://drive.google.com/file/d/16qQItumY55nmsCXzMHlcoSFyeSwZemK4/view) to the Public Service, requesting details of the sanitation actions taken by this service in labour. In point (D), the reply received on 22 November 2019 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sIV_9Vvsj2UA93nCr-nLWXX0yDD9vnEC/view) contained the following sentence: 'These quantities of waste are transported to the Satu Nou de Jos garbage ramp and the Săsar garbage ramp with its own machinery and the staff of SPAU Baia Mare'. Starting from this statement, on December 4, 2019, USR Baia Mare sent a request for information of public interest (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DRkzj5McMLBjz_TiRgOuX9bfG2J7wk_8/view) to the Maramures Environmental Protection Agency, requesting information on the legality of the Săsar garbage ramp, the economic operator that manages it and its filling degree." In the address signed by eceutive director Gabriel Tămâian, the EPA is based on the fact that the garbage ramp is on the border between Baia Mare and Săsar, but is administratively related to baia mare municipality. Therefore, Mr. Incense pretends to never hear of that ramp. After the telephone insistence of Dan Ivan, Mr. Tămâian asked to send a new request, with the correct address, promising to give a serious answer.", says Dan Ivan, president of USR MaramureşSo, USR Baia Mare sent the request for public information on December 12, 2019 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fmyNd_uwknR525o729i84HlOAbPpYFhZ/view). On December 18, 2019, the USR received the Response of the EPA (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QPvnybf_2wBaYsyC3f3wUbOHDqURdlqq/view), stating that Baia Mare Municipality applied for an environmental agreement for the authorisation of the Săsar ramp on Europa fn Street, but the EPA requested for an updated CF extract, as the destination and regime of the area, as set out in the PUG, were different. The CF extract was never submitted before, so the ramp was not granted authorisation either. It therefore works illegally. Therefore, USR Baia Mare sent a referral to the National Environmental Guard – Maramureş County Commissariat on January 14 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ft42-jK9JD7fN3v2TbqgtoFZWak7B1vU/view, 2020, stating that Baia Mare City Hall violates the law. At the same time, we sent the Environmental Guard photos from the scene and a video showing a garbage machine of DRUSAL S.A., the company that manages waste in Baia Mare. The car was travelling unhindered on the landfill which, legally, does not exist. The Guard had carried out checks between 21 and 31 January 2020, but apparently the employees had not had time to send a response with the results of the checks. The reply states that fines have been imposed, but their amount is not communicated to us. Also, the measures taken (if taken) are not found to return the land to its original state.' The law is the same for everyone. USR Baia Mare will not tolerate preferential treatment for any institution or person with power and influence. The contempt for the law was accepted and encouraged in Baia Mare, and the results are seen in all aspects that characterize the municipality.", concludes usr maramureş president Dan Ivan.
