Una victoria de gran significado en contra de José Antonio Kast, un candidato que siempre apoyó la dictadura cívico-militar de Pinochet.Felicitamos también al Partido Comunista de Chile, al Frente Amplio y a todas las otras fuerzas de la “Coalición Apruebo dignidad” por sus compromisos de unidad durante todo este período electoral, unidad realizada con gran responsabilidad.A partir del 18 de octubre de 2019, Chile se vio estremecido por un gran movimiento popular de repudio al sistema neoliberal continuador de la dictadura. La protesta masiva fue expresión del sentir de un pueblo cansado tras 30 años de exclusión y depauperación, en particular de los sectores más humildes de la población. La respuesta del presidente Piñera fue una brutal represión con decenas de muertos y centenares de heridos. Una represión realizada con el agravante de una nueva técnica consistente en que las fuerzas policiales disparaban a los ojos para dejar ciegos a los manifestantes.El “estallido social” abrió la posibilidad del referéndum sobre la nueva constitución y posteriormente la instalación de la Convención Constitucional para generar una nueva institucionalidad que barra con la actual, heredada de la dictadura.La victoria de Boric es una buena noticia para las fuerzas de transformación a nivel mundial, fortalece las fuerzas de izquierda y progresistas en la región, y la esperanza del cambio de cara a las presidenciales de Colombia con Gustavo Petro y a las de Brasil con Lula.Con la victoria de Boric y del pacto “Apruebo dignidad”, se abre la posibilidad que Chile tenga también un mejor futuro que permita “abrir las grandes alamedas por donde pase el hombre libre para construir una sociedad mejor”, como dijera el presidente mártir Salvador Allende.Bruselas, 21 de diciembre 2021***ENG***The Party of the European Left welcomes Gabriel Boric’s victory as the new president of ChileThe Party of the European Left welcomes the victory of Gabriel Boric as the new president of Chile with 56% of popular support.
