Elderly people hardly come into the picture on the social media channels of Sport Vlaanderen, the administration under the direct responsibility of N-VA minister Ben Weyts.

This was established by Green MP Ann De Martelaer after a quantitative study of the Instagram and Facebook page of Sport Vlaanderen. 'Although the Jambon government committed itself in the policy plan for the elderly to also encourage people over 65 to exercise, it has not invested any resources or energy in promoting sport to this target group for years. That is a missed opportunity because this large target group is interested in sports and it is scientifically proven that exercise keeps seniors fit and healthy.' De Martelaer therefore urges the Jambon government to work on a positive image of senior sportsmen.
