The deputy of Coalición Canaria supports a commission of inquiry in Congress to clarify contracts for medical supplies due to Covid-19"We have to know who did it, how it was allowed, who profited and what role each name that we are getting to know played," said ValidoMadrid, March 21, 2024The deputy of Coalición Canaria (CC), Cristina Valido, has demanded today, Thursday, that the processes of contracting, purchases and payments made for the acquisition of medical material by public administrations during the Covid-19 pandemic be investigated "to the last consequences".

To this end, the Canarian nationalist deputy has supported the creation of a commission of inquiry in the Congress of Deputies and has demanded that work be done with "the level of transparency that society demands of us, that is, the maximum level of transparency to get to the bottom of the matter and so that society does not associate politics with corruption again". During her speech in the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies, Cristina Valido stressed the need to regain society's trust in public administrative management after the revelation of alleged cases of large-scale economic corruption linked to the purchase of medical supplies during the toughest months of the pandemic. In this sense, the Canarian nationalist parliamentarian has warned of the loss of trust and dignity in political work and public management because "trust, like dignity, is not something that is conquered and remains forever, but must be achieved every day, every year and, of course, every plenary session". For this reason, Cristina Valido lamented the current climate of political tension in the state scenario and referred to "the shame of having to read every morning headlines that compare this House to a tavern". Faced with this situation, the spokesperson for Coalición Canaria showed her support for the creation of the commission of inquiry in the Congress of Deputies to "address public management during the Covid-19 pandemic and also, as we all know, to recover part of that trust and respect lost in society" as a result of the opening of a police and judicial investigation into the purchase of masks during the months of pandemic." During these last weeks," Cristina Valido stressed, "politics has become a real quagmire, crossing all the red lines that are possible and endangering democratic health because there are few things left to hear in this House." Faced with a scenario of serious deterioration of parliamentary life, the nationalist deputy confirmed that the Canary Islands Coalition supports the work of a commission of inquiry because, she said, "what has to be clarified and what needs to be done is that the commission of inquiry, this one and those that occur in the autonomous communities, make known who did it, how it was allowed, who benefited, and what role each of the names we have come across played" in the investigations that are already underway in the police and judicial spheres on masks." Because the stains on trust and prestige will take a long time to disappear if we are not able to provide absolute transparency in an impartial parliamentary investigation, based on facts and resounding conclusions that prevent this from happening again," concluded Cristina Valido.
