One of the most important protagonists of the anti-dictatorial struggle, Fivos Ioannidis is no longer with us.He served with dedication the democratic party and his political career was characterized by his bravery, selflessness and faith in high ideals and values.He was sentenced to eleven years in prison by the Extraordinary Military Court of Chania, for his resistance action against the junta and after the restoration of democracy he was a founding member of the New Politicians Forces.

In 1989 he was elected for the first time MP of Lasithi.He served as Deputy Minister of Social Insurance and Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology in the governments of Andreas Papandreou and Costas Simitis.My sincere condolences to his family.
