KDH calls on Robert Fico's government to join a group of European Union (EU) member states promoting asylum procedures.

It is a solution that would ensure the management of migration outside Europe and is tested on the basis of the cooperation between Italy and Albania in 2023 and we can already see that it brings positive results in significantly reducing migration flows. In addition, the proposed system of compulsory solidarity is set up unfairly. It does not reflect the solidarity shown by countries, including Slovakia, towards displaced people from Ukraine after the outbreak of war. If we do not find a solution that is fair and gives legal certainty to member states, we will never deal with the migration issue effectively," explains MEP and KDH candidate leader Miriam LexmannThe migration pact, adopted by the European Parliament in April, does not address the fundamental pressures at the external borders of the European Union (EU), adds administrative barriers and creates legal uncertainty. ideologies which, moreover, contradict its cultural background. Instead, we need to concentrate our efforts on solving the real problems. In the case of migration, too, there are sensible solutions that comply with the law, respect human dignity and, above all, work. At the same time, we think that there could and should be a basic agreement on this topic across the political spectrum, as managing migration and protecting external borders are also in our national interest," concludes KDH Vice-President Viliam Karas.
