The State Budget for 2023 was approved this Friday, in a final vote in the Assembly of the Republic, with the votes of the majority of the Socialist Party and the abstention of members of PAN and Livre.

PSD, Chega, Left Bloc, PCP and Liberal Initiative voted against. Eurico Brilhante Dias pointed out that, in a specialty, "the Parliamentary Group of the PS was and wanted to be dialoguing", presenting and approving amendments that improve the original proposal of the Government with "more cohesion, bet on the youngest, protection of the most vulnerable and boost to sustainable economic growth". The parliamentary leader of the PS indicated, during the closing of the discussion of the OE, that "the work developed in a specialty allowed the approval of 122 proposals for amendments to the Budget, a higher number than the approved amendments" in the previous State Budget. Eurico Brilhante Dias left some numbers: "We have adamant 25 amendments to the NAP, 24 from Livre, nine from the parties to our left – Left Bloc and PCP – and nine proposals from the PPD/PSD and the Liberal Initiative. We have dialogued, without exception, with all the democratic parties in this Chamber and most of the amendments we have passed have been proposed by the opposition parties." The Ps Parliamentary Group presented 55 measures "in the area of taxation, housing, the environment, territorial cohesion and support for young people, as well as the fight against tax evasion", he said. In 122 amendments adopted, 55 are from the Socialist Party and 67 are "from the other democratic parties," Eurico Brilhante Dias pointed out, noting that "this budget year contrasts clearly with the previous right-wing majority that ruled between 2011 and 2015," and gave the example of the six amendments approved in 2013." One more number: in the entire PPD/PSD-CDS governance legislature, only 43 proposals to amend the opposition were approved," added the Socialist parliamentary leader, who warned that "the lie does not stand the matter" and that the "stamp" of the "steamroller" was that of "ensimesmada austerity" that never respected democratic opposition. Eurico Brilhante Dias then informed all the benches that the PS voted alone "in only 4.5% of the amendments, which demonstrates, crystal clear, that this majority did not impose its vision on the other democratic forces, which means that in more than 95% of cases other political forces voted with the PS or, at least abstained." "This is a majority of dialogue," he said. Absolute minorities can not govern when this was not the will of the PortugueseThe president of the Parliamentary Group of the PS later criticized the Social Democrats for having "deserted this debate": "The PPD / PSD said, clearly, that would not approve this Budget even before it had entered the Assembly of the Republic". The proof of this withdrawal is "the vast majority of the amendments submitted" were "additions that did not alter the original document and only intended to misshape it in its essence", said Eurico Brilhante Dias, who left a warning: "There is no absolute minority that can govern when this was not the will of the Portuguese". The parliamentary leader of the Socialist Party considered it "truly curious" that the right has never referred to the "three D's – Deficit, Debt and Unemployment". He explained why: "They do not refer to the deficit, because this Government continuously consolidates public finances. There is no talk of debt, because the government is pursuing the objective of removing Portugal from all the most indebted countries in the euro zone. Unemployment is not mentioned, because it is at historic lows." Since you can't challenge the first three D's, you bet on a fourth and fifth – the famous coming of the Devil and the D of the degradation of the political environment," he said. Opposition suffers from the Abstinence Syndrome of PowerEurico Brilhante Dias assured that the Government "has a solution to the problems of the Portuguese and protects them against adverse scenarios", consolidating public finances and, in parallel, betting on growth and employment, which "are the best antidotes to meet the demand of the times we live". The president of the socialist caucus left some data that are never spoken by the opposition: "Portugal will be the only member state that accelerates growth in 2022, will be the second country in the euro zone with the highest growth, growth caused by increased exports and increased investment". Now, "only a penitent opposition and in contrarity with the will of the voters is able to call this Budget austerity", stressed Eurico Brilhante Dias, ensuring that with the PS, instead of austerity, there is "social justice
