The LMP has resamen its budget amendment proposal to reduce VAT on basic foodstuffs to 5 percent, the DEPUTY LEADER of the LMP group said at a press conference in Budapest on Saturday, which was also broadcast on Facebook.

Antal Csárdi said that the price of basic food has increased in recent years and decades well above average inflation. He added that 99 per cent of society "feels on their skin" that buying basic food is a problem." It is simply unacceptable that the price of these products is practically increasing by double-digit percentages per year, and that neither wages nor pensions can follow this price increase," said Antal Csárdi. The politician said it was unfair that vat on basic foodstuffs is as much as 27 percent for a luxury product.
