The Social Democratic Party believes that Friday's announcement by the National Institute of Statistics on Economic Growth of 4.1% from 2019 confirms romania's good economic results during the PSD government.

According to available data published by EUROSTAT, our country ranks second in the European Union ranking on the economic growth rate in the 2019.Pe elsewhere, there are serious reasons to ask whether 2019 will also be the last year of romania's economic growth? After the PNL came to government, several macro-economic indicators suddenly deteriorated, and the political crisis created by President Iohannis' obsession with early PNL could lead to Romania's entry into recession during 2020.We recall that in the last two months of the previous year, under the governance of the PNL, was a real debautity of public spending (9 billion lei more), amid the sudden decrease in budget revenues (from +12.4% in the first 10 months, to -5% after the PNL came to government). Also, in the 3 months of government, the PNL borrowed 10 billion euros, four times more than the PSD. On this basis, the PNL Government increased the budget deficit in 2019 from 2.8% to 4.6%, exceeding the acceptable threshold of 3% and thus leading romania's entry into the excessive deficit procedure. Last but not least, the freezing of pension and wage increases and the irresponsible statements of the Minister of Finance regarding a possible economic crisis acted as a handbrake that suddenly slowed economic growth in Romania. At the same time stopped two main engines of the Romanian economy: the industry, which is also growing massive declines, affected by the lack of government measures to compensate for farmers' losses amid this year's atypical winter. In this economic context marked by uncertainties and imbalances, the only motivation that can stand behind the PNL's obsession with triggering early elections is to get the citizens' vote before austerity comes.
