Member of Parliament Kim Berg (SDP) believes that the state effort to develop urban traffic in a more sustainable direction is ideal in Vaasa, given the city's strategy as the "Energy Capital of the Nordic region".

On Friday, the Ministry of Communications and Traficom published state aid worth over EUR 1 million for the development of light traffic. The aim is to support and promote sustainable modes of transport. Of the amount of the aid, the City of Vaasa was granted EUR 30 000 for the promotion and strengthening of the brand of the sustainable mode of transport.– I welcome the state aid which will develop modes of transport in an increasingly sustainable direction in Vaasa. The city's strategy as an energy capital is to increase the flow for a good life. Sustainable modes of transport are also an important part of Marin's government program, says Berg. The City of Vaasa already took three years ago in 2018–2021 as a strategy to be the Energy Capital of the Nordic region. Vasa's vision is based on five local forces: energy, rapid action, history, welfare and internationalism– The strategy was updated last autumn and the council regularly monitors how it is realized. The ministry's and Traficom's support shows that it is not just beautiful talk, Berg notes.
