KDH claims this in response to the fact that members of the ruling coalition did not approve an amendment to the law, according to which the care allowance would not be reduced if someone cares for a close person and at the same time has some other income. Every second person looking for a caregiver in Slovakia has trouble finding one. We should do everything so that there is someone to take care of our loved ones. However, the government continues to senselessly punish people who choose to care for their family members. Currently, the system is set up in such a way that if someone has an income more than 2 and a half times the subsistence minimum, the allowance for caring for a loved one is reduced. This is a mockery of all people who care about their loved ones. The state should support these people, not throw logs under their feet. I therefore suggested that carer's allowance should not be cut. Unfortunately, the ruling coalition has once again shown how much it cares about helping people," says Martina HOLEČKOVÁ, chairwoman of the KDH parliamentary group and social expert.Holečková also points out that the closest relatives assume the burden that should be borne by the state, because it is the weakest who are the first to be given a helping hand by the state. "Any reduction in carer's allowance is unjustified. Thus, not reducing the carer's allowance would not only significantly help families of persons with disabilities, but would also help to empower carers and recognise their contribution to society.
