On Saturday, SDP chiefs from Vukovar-Srijem County, Mario Milinković (Stari Mikanovci) and Josip Krnić (Babina Greda), visited the protest of pig breeders at the Slavonski Šamac border crossing, talked to them and showed their support.

Slavonian pig farmers are rightly dissatisfied with the delayed measures and the implementation of them by the relevant ministry, which has brought numerous Slavonian families and family farms to the brink of bankruptcy. Our chiefs are well acquainted with the problems pig farmers face, because the problem of swine fever also exists in their municipalities. The Ministry still has a problem with clear communication towards pig breeders, and the actions they take are still confusing and to the detriment of these people and their families. We believe that they are inflicted great financial damage and put them in an uncomfortable position by the fact that for a driven or euthanized pig they get 2 euros per kg, and today the price on the market is from 3.5 euros and upwards. Pig breeding and processing is part of tradition and culture – it is a way of life, but also of survival and income in this part of Croatia. The moves of the Ministry and the incompetent minister further impoverish this region and drive people out of the country. With all these moves, the HDZ government shows that they never cared about Slavonia, and this treatment is obviously also part of their famous "Project Slavonia". If this is a help to Slavonians, please do not help again!
