Rasa Budbergytė and Linas Balsys, the group of the Social Democratic Party of the Seimas, offer to unite the Ministry of Economy and Innovation with the Ministry of Energy.

According to the Social Democrats, such a decision is dictated by the situation where the governments do not find a suitable candidate to lead the Ministry of Economics and Innovation, and the time for this government's work remains less. " After all, a decade ago the Ministry of the economy was split into two – energy and farm, which was renamed to Economic and innovation. The Conservatives who had taken this division then promised that such a solution would not cost the taxpayers extra money. However, the number of employees in the two ministries has consistently increased, and the costs of these ministries have grown. The interministerial connection would save administrative resources and budget resources, "says Dean of the Social Democratic Group of the Seimas, working in the Committee on Budgets and finance, R. Budbergytė. Connecting ministries would save administrative resources and budget money. The Social Democrats recall that the aim of the current government programme was also to consolidate the ministries. The managing authorities have time to fulfill this promise to their voters. " When connecting ministries, strategic public projects such as the synchronisation of electricity should be retained. The interconnection of the Lithuanian energy system with the continental Western European electricity transmission networks is a key project for the country's energy independence. Its implementation will have a significant impact on the development of the Lithuanian economy, requiring not a single, innovative solution, and therefore much broader than energy alone. In this respect, the pooling of two ministries would allow for better coordination of synchronisation, so that, by 2025 years, we would be fully prepared to have an efficient, reliable electricity system, "says Social Democratic group Vice-President of the Seimas, L. Balsys.
