The Vlaams Belang is already adopting political recovery of the European Football Championship by the PVDA. "Millionaires who do not pay taxes are engaged by the Communists to promote Belgicism.

With a 'We are one' campaign – in the absence of a Belgian language it had to be in English – one wants to stimulate the artificial Feeling of Belgium with free tricolore flags", says group leader in the Chamber Barbara Pas (Vlaams Belang). "Apparently the intention is to promote the so-called unity of the country, but football success ultimately contributes nothing to keeping Belgium together." The Vlaams Belang obviously has no message whatsoever to a Belgian hysteria artificially whipped up by the press, but notes that it is now a tradition that people are overwhelmed with tricolore trash during international football tournaments. "Cups, pennants, flags, rearview mirror covers, baby bibs, rags, carpets, wigs and vuvuzelas. Belgian propaganda is even distributed free of charge in containers of beer", says Pas. "A derogatory treatment that our Flemish Lion has been spared for the time being."" No one, and certainly not the sports enthusiast, has a message to political recovery by politicians"For the Vlaams Belang, the PVDA campaign is a good example of misplaced political recovery of a sports event. "The Belgian team as an example for all of us, as a binder for the nation, as proof of the proper functioning of a country. It is a quote that we have heard many politicians, not just PVDA members, make before," Pas continues. "Unfortunately for our unitarian friends, the performance of a football team is not a measure of a country's good functioning." The Vlaams Belang cites the example of Argentina of the 1970s. "A bankrupt country, which became known under the totalitarian regime of General Videla for the political assassinations and parades of the Foolish Mothers," he said. "But the country that became world champion in 1978 and must have functioned well according to the infantile logic of the Belgians."" The artificially whipped 'Belgian' feeling lasts no longer than 90 minutes, 120 in case of extensions", concludes Pas. "After the game, we are back in the realities of the billion-dollar transfers, the budget deficits, the progressive Islamisation and the curtailment of free speech. Sport does not ensure national unity, only a temporary and fleeting fan happiness. For me, the best team can always win, but the cramped mixing of sport and politics is pointless."
