The congressman of the Vaasa constituency, Matias Mäkynen, has been elected as a substitute for the SDP in the Social Security Reform Committee as well as as a member of the Kela Council.

In the Social Security Committee, Mäkynen is an alternate member of Tarja Filatoville, who has been the last Minister of Labour in Finland, whose place he also takes in the Kela delegation. – It is a great honour to join in the work of reforming the social security of Finland. It is important to simplify social security and to ensure that work is always profitable. At the same time, we must ensure that the system takes better account of people's diverse life situations. As a coil delegate, I would particularly like to promote the facilitation of the use of the services and the language of the people, says Mäkynen. Mäkynen and Filatov have been working together to modernise social security for years. The model for social security reform, designed by Mäkysen, was approved as the official support of the SDP by the Working group chaired by Mr Kari-Yleismäki, managing director of Filatov and the Merimies pension fund. At present, Mäkynen also leads the work of the SDP's internal social Security programme in the party's insurance division. – We already have a history of joint work with Matthias on social security matters. Nice to get back to the common important issue, Filatov commented. The Parliamentary Social Security Committee, which is comprehensive on all parliamentary parties, is officially set up in the coming weeks and is due to take two electoral periods until spring 2027. Alongside a large whole, it is also preparing the part-reforms that will be carried out during the current legislature. The committee is chaired by the research Professor Pasi Moisio of the Health and Welfare Department.
