"We can't do without the public health service! The real emergency is to adapt the funding of the National Health Service to the standards of advanced European countries.

It is urgent and indispensable, because a functioning NHS not only protects health, but also contributes to social cohesion." With these words a few weeks ago, 14 scientists, including Nobel Prize winner Giorgio Parisi, made a heartfelt appeal to politics to save our National Health Service. Our party wanted to take up this request by asking the Chamber of Deputies to discuss the "Schlein Law" which proposes to gradually increase spending on health until it reaches the European average of 7.5% of GDP and to abolish the ceiling on personnel spending, implementing an extraordinary recruitment plan. Only in this way will it be possible to implement the necessary reforms in the name of equity, efficiency, appropriateness of care, structurally reducing waiting lists and investing more and more in prevention and in local and territorial services. So far, we have only heard words from the Meloni government, while we have seen cuts and measures that, directly or indirectly, impoverish public health in favor of a more or less creeping privatization. Unfortunately, the prospect of the collapse of the NHS is not our invention, as evidenced every day by the alarms of professionals and the data on health poverty and inequalities between strong and disadvantaged areas of the country. We have asked that the Schlein Law be discussed as soon as possible because it is a priority for all Italians and must also be a priority on the political and parliamentary agenda. We want to fully implement Article 32 of the Constitution and defend the National Health Service, an invaluable heritage of skills and an essential factor of equality among citizens." Thus Marina Sereni, head of Health and Health in the national secretariat of the Democratic Party. L'articolo Sereni (Pd), discuss and immediately approve "Schlein Law" to save the NHS proviene da Partito democratico.
